01 / THE CHALLENGE

A crowded boardwalk. A familiar enemy. A category full of clichés.

Beachfront seafood brands tend to reach for the same shorthand: anchors, ropes, weathered type, and generic nautical nostalgia. On an already noisy boardwalk, most of it disappears.

Screamin’ Gull starts with a sharper truth. Everyone has watched a seagull stalk a basket of fries. Everyone has guarded lunch with one hand. That shared tension is funny, immediate, and already belongs to the beach.

THE MENACE BECAME
THE MASCOT.

PRODUCT WORLD / BOARDWALK SERVICEFresh, hot, fast, and designed to survive the walk back to the sand.
02 / THE ORGANIZING IDEA

Turn food theft into product desire.

The gull proves the food is worth fighting for, creates a natural service language, and gives every touchpoint a reason to exist.

01

THE THREAT IS THE PROOF

A seagull only steals food worth stealing. The boardwalk nuisance becomes the brand’s simplest product claim.

02

CHAOS NEEDS A GRID

The mascot can be frantic because the typography, spacing, pricing, and information hierarchy stay disciplined.

03

EVERY OBJECT CONTINUES THE JOKE

The experience builds from storefront warning to packaging reveal, receipt footer, uniform, and final fry.

03 / RESPONSIVE IDENTITY

One scream.
Three volumes.

The supplied identity suite moves from large environmental signage to embroidery, stickers, receipts, and social without losing the open-beak silhouette that makes the mark memorable.

04 / THE CONTROL SYSTEM

The character screams.
The grid stays calm.

Fredoka gives the identity its soft, open-mouthed volume. Instrument Sans handles editorial hierarchy and menu readability. Martian Mono turns warnings, prices, order numbers, and disclaimers into operational evidence.

05 / MOTION LANGUAGE

Every message begins
inside the scream.

The open beak is the brand’s motion origin. Headlines burst outward in expanding waves, utility copy trails behind like an echo, and the pictorial mark becomes a repeatable transition instead of a character placed beside unrelated type.

06 / THE GULL DEFENSE PATTERN

Built from the open beak, warning rays, and the path of a stolen fry.

The pattern gives the brand a recognizable texture even when the full logo is absent. It scales from basket liner and wrapping paper to staff bandanas, tray paper, awning panels, and social crops.

07 / MENU DESIGN

A real menu built
for a moving line.

Short names, disciplined descriptions, hard-working price alignment, and clear groups make the menu readable from the queue. The voice stays present, but never gets between a hungry customer and an order.

11 / FLAGSHIP LAUNCH

The First Fry of Summer.

Coney Island opens the season with one ceremonial first order passed through the gull window. A boardwalk takeover, limited beach kit, local creator night, and same-day coastal cleanup turn opening day into an annual ritual instead of a standard restaurant launch.

12 / WHY IT CAN WORK

One beach behavior becomes an East Coast institution.

The gull is not decoration. It organizes the warning language, service rituals, packaging, merchandise, social content, and expansion model. That gives each location room to feel local while keeping the brand immediately recognizable.

13 / THE RESULT

A fast-casual brand with cult-brand gravity.

One universal beach behavior organizes the Screamin’ Gull logo, menu, environment, packaging, service language, merchandise, and expansion model.

It is loud enough for the boardwalk, disciplined enough to scale, and specific enough that no other seafood shack can claim the same story.
