Spaceflight and motorsport face the same forces at different scales: drag, heat and gravity. The GT3 RS already treats air as an active material. This concept explores what Porsche could learn from Artemis-era aerospace systems.

THE IDEAThe result is a Launch Edition built around thermal control, active aerodynamics, traceable materials and driver telemetry. Every choice has to earn its place on the car.

Artemis defines the operating environment behind the concept. SLS and Orion stand at Launch Complex 39B. Ground systems manage extreme pressure and heat. Mission control turns thousands of changing conditions into clear decisions.

PRESSURE

SLS moves through a changing atmosphere. The GT3 RS shapes pressure above and beneath the body to generate usable load.

02 / THERMAL

HEAT

Launch architecture manages cryogenic and combustion extremes. The car applies the lesson to solar gain, exhaust shielding and drivetrain protection.

03 / CONTROL

TELEMETRY

Mission control converts system states into decisive signals. The cockpit reduces track data to the information a driver can act on at speed.

04 / HUMAN FACTORS

VISIBILITY

Operational orange marks critical interfaces, release points and active components. It is never used as decoration.

NASA does not endorse commercial products, co-branded merchandise or “NASA x Brand” constructions. That rule shaped the project from the start.

The case study uses NASA standards, public mission data and aerospace research as source material, not endorsement. NASA identifiers stay out of the product lockup, advertising and merchandise. Porsche remains the product brand.

The restraint became useful. It forced every aerospace reference to work harder than a logo.

Mission clocks, serial numbers and pressure deltas form the graphic language. Decoration stays secondary.

A proposed ceramic-filled, low-emissivity coating designed to reduce solar heat absorption during exposed track sessions.

High-visibility color is reserved for active aero, center locks, release points and driver-critical controls.

03 / UNDERBODY / HEAT SHIELD

METALLIZED POLYIMIDE

A protected, MLI-inspired thermal barrier isolates exhaust heat beneath the rear diffuser. It is not described as literal gold foil.

04 / AERO / TRACEABILITY

CARBON + SERIAL

Laser-etched identification replaces oversized mission graphics. ARTEMIS-911-001 identifies the exact specification.

05 / COCKPIT SYSTEMLAUNCH CONTROL / REINTERPRETED

DATA WITH
A DRIVER.

Launch Control shifts the instrument cluster into a focused telemetry mode. The central tachometer becomes a burn sequence. Tire pressure appears as a target delta. G-force, temperature and aero state remain legible at speed.

The interface follows the discipline of mission control while remaining unmistakably automotive.

Each activation has to prove part of the engineering story. Film, runway, equipment and connected data all return to the same physical forces.

THE DRAG COEFFICIENT

A 60-second split-screen film pairs launch-site stillness with a GT3 RS under load in the wind tunnel. No score. Turbines, radio procedure and a flat-six at redline build the entire soundtrack.

DYNAMIC PROOF RUN

A proposed high-speed stability run uses the 15,000-foot Launch and Landing Facility runway, subject to operator, safety and site approval. Ground-control monitors display aerodynamic data from each pass.

THE MERIDIAN CAPSULE

A Porsche Design chronograph and FIA-certified track suit carry the system into bead-blasted titanium, Nomex, high-visibility controls and countdown functions.

PUBLIC MISSION DATA

PCM pulls approved public countdown and mission data during active launch windows. It relies on network access, not a fictional satellite link.

The capsule applies the car’s thermal, visibility and material system to equipment a driver can wear. It is track equipment first and merchandise second.

Flame-resistant construction, articulated movement and high-visibility seams make the racing suit the capsule’s clearest expression.

MISSION TIME

Bead-blasted titanium, a lunar-grey dial and a technical textile strap bring the countdown function to the wrist.

03 / TRACK LAYERS

CREW SYSTEM

A black utility jacket, carbon helmet and technical gloves use the same orange control language without becoming costume.

Launch Edition began with a collaboration Porsche and NASA could not formally brand. That limit clarified the work. Aerospace research shapes the materials, interface and campaign without turning NASA identity into a product claim.

This is a personal, self-initiated speculative portfolio exercise created solely to demonstrate independent strategy, design and art direction. It is not a real collaboration, commercial release or announced product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, commissioned by, approved by or produced in partnership with Porsche, NASA, the Artemis program, Kennedy Space Center or Space Florida. All product specifications, interfaces, campaign materials and activations shown here are conceptual proposals.
