01

THE STRATEGIC HOOK

A third place built for softer connection.

Third places are disappearing while loneliness continues to rise. MATCHA Cat Café responds with a slower, community-first environment where tea ritual, hospitality, and animal companionship share one carefully managed experience. The opportunity is not another novelty café. It is a repeatable neighborhood refuge that makes premium matcha approachable and lets the cats set the pace.

02 / THE ORGANIZING IDEA

Turn the café into a soft landing: a shared ritual of slowing down, where the matcha is carefully whisked and every connection happens without pressure.

03

THE DESIGN LOGIC

How the system works.

01

RITUAL WITHOUT INTIMIDATION

The language makes premium matcha approachable, translating craft into clear, sensory moments instead of ceremony for ceremony's sake.

02

COMPANY ON THEIR TERMS

Cats are residents with agency and distinct personalities, not props. Animal welfare is part of the guest experience.

03

QUIET CAN HAVE CHARACTER

Sage, forest green, warm cream, rounded forms, and dry wit create a calm identity that still feels memorable and alive.

04

ONE CONTINUOUS RETREAT

Brand, menu, lounge, retail, reservations, staff, and social content all reinforce the same promise: leave with softer shoulders.

04

THE IDENTITY

The idea becomes visible.

The identity brings café craft and feline warmth into balance. A confident lowercase wordmark is paired with a compact cat-and-cup symbol; together they feel considered enough for a premium tea bar and friendly enough for a neighborhood refuge.

THE VISUAL LANGUAGE

A HIGH-DESIGN RETREAT THAT STILL PURRS.

Photography is warm, tactile, and unhurried: soft daylight, pale oak, stone-ground green, and cats captured as self-possessed residents. Rounded framing and generous space preserve the feeling of calm, while small moments of wit keep the world from becoming overly precious.

06

APPLICATION

THE RITUAL LEAVES THE LOUNGE.

The identity extends into a restrained retail collection for both halves of the audience: ceremonial matcha and tools for people; collars, apparel, and small comforts that carry the same calm visual language home.

07

EXPERIENCE

BOOK A PAUSE, NOT JUST A TABLE.

The digital experience moves from mood to action without breaking the spell. Guests can understand the café philosophy, explore the drinks, meet resident and adoptable cats, reserve a capacity-controlled lounge visit, shop the collection, find the Greenpoint location, and follow the café’s social world.

01

GUIDED DISCOVERY

The story unfolds in a natural visit sequence: understand the promise, choose a drink, meet the cats, then reserve a seat.

02

INTERACTIVE CARE

Resident profiles, adoption pathways, booking controls, and lounge guidelines turn the brand's values into usable behavior.

03

A PLACE WITH DEPTH

The shop, location, staff story, and social feed make the concept feel like an operating neighborhood destination.

08 / THE SERVICE ARCHITECTURE

Calm is built
into the visit.

The experience is organized as a sequence, not a room full of cats. Tea craft establishes the pace. Capacity protects the residents. Profiles create recognition. Adoption support turns a good visit into a lasting relationship.

01

ARRIVE

Guests enter through the tea bar, where the menu, materials, and pace establish calm before the lounge begins.

02

WHISK

Each drink is prepared in view. Craft is visible, but the language stays clear and welcoming.

03

MEET

Capacity-controlled sessions let cats choose contact, retreat, or observation without pressure.

04

CONNECT

Resident profiles turn personality, care needs, and adoption status into a thoughtful introduction.

05

CONTINUE

Retail, follow-up content, and adoption pathways extend the relationship beyond one visit.

09 / FLAGSHIP ACTIVATION

National Matcha Day:
The Soft Landing.

A one-day neighborhood program extends the café into McCarren Park through guided tastings, quiet seating, resident stories, adoption conversations, and a live whisking bar. Timed sessions protect the animals while the public program introduces the brand at city scale.

01TEA SCHOOL

Short, useful tastings make origin, grade, preparation, and flavor easy to understand.

02QUIET HOURS

Low-capacity sessions create room for guests who need a calmer public event.

10 / ENVIRONMENT

A boundary
that feels soft.

The tea bar and resident lounge share one material language while remaining operationally distinct. Pale oak, washable surfaces, quiet lighting, elevated cat routes, and retreat zones protect both hospitality standards and animal agency.

11 / RESIDENT CARE + ADOPTION

Personality before profile.

Each resident is introduced as an individual with preferences, boundaries, history, and care needs. The system supports responsible matching instead of impulse adoption.

01

OBSERVE

Guests learn how the cat behaves in a shared environment before requesting a meeting.

02

ASK

Staff translate temperament, routine, health, and household fit into practical guidance.

03

MEET AGAIN

A second visit replaces same-day decisions with a calmer, more responsible match.

04

GO HOME WELL

Transition notes, starter goods, and follow-up support help the relationship settle.

WHY IT CAN WORK

Ritual creates return visits. Care creates trust.

The model brings together repeatable café behavior, timed lounge reservations, tea education, retail, membership, and responsible adoption support. Each part can earn attention or revenue, but they remain credible because animal welfare sets the operating rules.

THE RESULT

A system with gravity.

MATCHA is a hospitality system built around restoration, animal agency, and everyday ritual. The same idea holds across identity, environment, menu, retail, social storytelling, and the interactive digital experience.
